The Kress Hollywood

Untitled-19-138,000 square feet, capacity 2,100

With a string of successful dining and entertainment venues, Michael Viscuso established himself as one of Southern California’s largest premiere nightlife and entertainment visionaries. He creatively and skillfully maintained the historical integrity of each venue he worked with while invigorating the nightlife and economy of each area, Mr. Viscuso is known for both style and success. The Kress, a 38,800 square foot multi-million dollar historically renovated dining and entertainment complex, marked his official grand entrance into Hollywood. The Kress Hollywood included a full-service restaurant with an Asian-influenced menu; a basement level lounge offering food service, live entertainment and dance floor; a third level banquet and event center offering full catering, live entertainment and dance floor; and a spectacular rooftop lounge with cabanas, special menu service and a spectacular 360 degree view of Los Angeles including the legendary Hollywood sign.

For the sixty years prior to The Kress’ occupancy, this incredible art deco structure was home to the landmark location for the famous Frederick’s of Hollywood lingerie manufacturer. Michael Viscuso stepped in to take this historical masterpiece back to its original 1934 architectural brilliance. Kress Hollywood proudly maintained the original 1930’s marble stairway, brass railings, ornate Italian designed ceiling and art deco façade. As part of his plan to maintain the building’s historical status, Mr. Viscuso researched the original architectural drawings on file at UCLA and chose the name The Kress Hollywood as an homage to the structure’s original tenant and owner, S.H. Kress and Co. a nationally-recognized retail chain offering department store items in luxury surroundings in 1934 during the Golden Age of Hollywood.
